Neil Wilson

The festival committee have again been very busy over the last year looking to improve on a fantastic festival. The planning started by building on the sponsorship links we made last year from local businesses. Sponsorship and patronage are two vital components which help us to finance our festival. I would like to thank all our patrons, main event sponsors, advertisers and all the businesses that support the festival.

We have also very quickly forged links with East Lothian Council and they have again helped make it possible for the Festival to return to its “home”, by which I mean The Brunton Hall where the Bun Fight, Tea Dance and the Annual Dinner Dance will take place. This is a five star venue and I know that we are looking forward to the festivities returning there.

We again managed to recruit a fantastic official party this year and of course I would like to congratulate Kieran Davidson and Mhairi Braby on their election as Honest Lad and Honest Lass.

This I know has been a life long ambition for both, I personally wish them and their Attendants the very best and hope they enjoy their year in office. The traditions of the Festival are very important and it is exciting each year to see another group of our youngsters leading our festival
The committee is excited to announce that entry on Festival Saturday at the racecourse will again be free of charge. We hope to build on the record numbers attending last year by exceeding all your expectations. The Riding of the Marches 2016 has kindly sponsored this year’s event.

Finally I would like to invite the people of Musselburgh to come out and support your town, we hopefully have something for everyone…remember this is your festival so please enjoy it!

Next year is the year of Riding of the Marches and will mean the Musselburgh Festival will rest for a year. The Committee would like to assure you that we will be working hard to be back stronger than ever in the year 2017.

See you all 2017!
